posing like a fashion blogger.

*The following was posted over here on Across and Down {my new blog}, but Husband said I should share it here as well.  And sometimes I actually listen to that guy.  So, enjoy!
-----------------------

Oh my goodness, you guys.  Husband e-mailed me a link to the funniest "How to Pose Like a Fashion Blogger" post like ever, ever!  And trust me, by me passing it along to you, I am in no way trying to poke fun of fashion bloggers, as I tried a stint in fashion-blogging myself.  Welllllllll, okay, perhaps I am laughing at us a little, especially after that hilarious post.  But it's all in good fun.  So, go ahead and click here to have a giggle!

But first, a look at my past attempts to be awesome...

I am a big fan of fashion blogs {my google reader is total proof}, but it's so so awkward taking photos of oneself, isn't it?  And then putting them out there for the world to see?  We have to be some kind of brave.  Well, my bravery is somewhat limited and so here on Across & Down, unless someone else is taking my photo, it will be me snapping my photo using the mirror {and no flamingo stance}.  Somehow, it feels less awkward to be in front of a mirror than it does to be setting the timer, using a tripod and standing out in nature trying to look like I'm having all kinds of spontaneous fun with a friend who doesn't exist.  At least with a mirror, you can see that I have no friends.  :)

We have this one life though.  And I'm not about to spend it taking things so seriously.
If one day I want to stand like a flamingo, then darnit, I'll stand like flamingo.  :)

And P.S. My darn cat pooped in the laundry room again.  Not on my pants this time, but in the corner.  What am I going to do with this broken feline????  Cat diapers?

saying goodbye.

Life happens.  And right now, my life is going through changes...amazing changes.  When I first started this blog {over a year ago}, I had a goal; to figure out how I could work with young children, while still dressing professionally and stylishly.  And after a year of experimentation and growth, I feel that I have reached that goal.  I also wanted to build a cache of activities for children, which I have enjoyed collecting and sharing.  I'm now confident that as a teacher, I could provide some pretty kick-bum learning experiences for preschoolers, while looking da bomb.

I feel like now is the right time to move on and say goodbye to Unpretentious Teacher.  If you've been following me for any time at all, then you may have sensed the slow-down in my posting.  I flat-out have run out of time.  It was hard enough to get a photo of my outfits when it was just school, work and family.  But add that to all the tasks that go into moving a family across the country and I have too much on my plate at this time.  Although my goal is to still become a teacher, my focus right now has to be on my family.

So, thank you so much for your kind comments and emails and support.  You have meant so much to me.   And even though Unpretentious Teacher is saying goodbye, I can still be found out there in the internets.  If you have any interest at all in following my moving adventure from the west to the east, please find me at http://acrossanddownalittlebit.blogspot.com  I'd love to hear from you!

Again, thank you for the memories!

Misty

taking the mustache even further.

I don't know, but this could actually be the new planking.  This was indeed more fun that it probably should have been.  :)

more of the same.

Loft button-up ruffly, Fuego scarf, Matty M. cardigan, Target jeggings, Born boots

The snow just won't let up.  This morning Husband had to use the snow blower, even.  I guess that's what I get for packing away my winter sweaters.  It's like how getting a carwash makes it rain; packing away sweaters causes a lengthy winter.  It has nothing to do at all with that darn Punxsutawney Phil and his dumb rodent shadow.  It was me and my spring-cleaning-overdrive, all along.

happy birthday.

Happy Birthday, my sweet.  I love you forever and ever and ever.

P.S. You're hot.

mustache concatenation.

highlight of my day.

totally globular dude.

This is what I look like when I am deep-in-thought-blogging and Husband gets ahold of my camera.  First I ignore him, then I give him a playfully chastising look, and then BA-BAM!  He gets me in all of my glorious round-fac-ed-ness.
It's hard to ignore that cute guy sometimes.

And wow!  People are not kidding about my globular face shape.  It's quite impressive.

holy cheese. she got dressed.

Nordstrom Rack skinnies, Gap dots and scarf, Loft tee

I'm not going to deny my matchy-matchiness today, but I do get points for mixing dots and florals.  Thank you Gap for providing the mannequined visual.  And onto other real quick news...today is my very last day of winter quarter.  Totally sweet.  Two more classes and c'est finis.  And other good news...one more day of work before spring break.  This brain could use the rest.  No more thought-provoking questions, thank you very much.  I'll take mindless drivel for a thousand, Alex.

Happy Monday!

this weekend.

the gas station.

 husband drives the swaggerwaggon.

showing off his new bah-ling.

picked this one up from a sleepover.

chilling in the minivan.  tires in the back.  bah-bye snow tires.

green pancakes for st. patty's day.

green eggs for the dad.

heavy bracket competition all weekend long.

and a whole lot of black garbage bags.  this house is ready to go.

I trust you all had a festive St. Patrick's Day.  Husband and I magically had no kids for the night of the 17th {oh sweet luck of the 1/4 Irish}.  We went on a date.  Dinner and a movie.  We even sat in a bar and watched March Madness on the big screen.  Such grown-ups were we - sitting so mannerly, sipping our drinks and watching the loud drunkens making wonderful fools of their sloshed selves.  Quite entertaining indeed.
